My friend Kelly came out for a visit while Hubby was away, to help out with lambing. But everyone seems to be waiting....
Wilma blessed us with twins in the early morning of the 26th. Beautiful black babies, no problems in the delivery. One boy (Wally) and one girl (Wendy).
Tika had a bit of an ordeal this year with her babies. We knew she was due and close, but we needed to run to the city to get supplies/groceries, etc. We checked her before we left, all was well. Gone for 5 hours and come home to a baby stuck! Had it's head and one foot out but the other was doubled back and there was just no way of her getting him out. With a bit of manipulation out he came, and within minutes he was up and trying to drink. I am so pleased. The second came out fine ( a beautiful girl) and then the last one was backwards and needed a little help.
All and all they are doing well, mom and babies.
In the late evening/early morning hours Ginger had triplets. Two boys and a girl.
Gina, George and Geoff
Daisy blessed us with twin ewe lambs this afternoon. She was looking ready, off
on her own, and when I went back to check sure enough two little lambs on the
Dixie and Dawn were born!
Ike is quickly bonding to his new friends. He does come out in the mornings to play and socialize with the other dogs and cats of the farm. He checks out the older sheep pen and all the birds running around. He is still extremely independant and often just goes off on his own to expore. But he is now leash trained so I can get him where I need now that he is getting much too big to carry around. And although his come has something to be desired, he does sit and wait for me when I tell him to and then I can attach the leash and put him where he belongs.
Ike spends most of his day here in the young ewe pen, we have a large kennel in there for him at night and leave the door open during the day for his food/water. We will have to keep an eye on him at lambing time but I have high hopes for this little guy!
Well our little Ike is sure growing fast. He has a very independant personality very unlike our other dogs. He is different to train but is coming along slowly. He is learning a leash is not bad, follows most of the time without problems, and is learning that the animals around the place are not chew toys.
Sorry everyone that follows my blog. I have been keeping up to date on everything on our facebook site, check there for frequent updates on the ranch.
